Sam joined SAI Global as a Fisheries Assessment Officer in September 2015. Prior to joining SAI Global Sam worked with the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA), Isle of Man and Bangor University Fisheries and Conservation Science Group (Wales).

Since joining SAI Global, Sam has been involved in assessing fisheries against various Programmes including Iceland Responsible Fisheries, Alaska Responsible Fisheries Management, Audubon G.U.L.F. Responsible Fisheries Management, Marine Stewardship Council and IFFO. Sam has also taken part in the development of the G.U.L.F. RFM scheme including Standard development and is currently supporting the schemes application to GSSI, including the development of a Data Deficient Audit Tool.

In Iceland, Sam has been the Assessment Team Leader for the last three Iceland Responsible Fisheries surveillance audits for the Golden redfish, cod, haddock and saithe fisheries, including their transition from 1.3 to v2.0 of the IRF Standard. In addition he led the Validation Assessment of the Icelandic ling, tusk, Atlantic wolffish and Icelandic Summer-spawning herring fisheries. Sam is based at SAI Global’s seafood office in Dundalk, Ireland.
