The PrimeFish Decision Support Framework and System
The Horizon 2020 PrimeFish project aims to contribute for a more competitive European seafood sector. It will do so by delivering an innovative decision support framework (PrimeDSF) enabling access to economic methods, models, studies and other resources including a decision support system called PrimeDSS. PrimeDSS, designed to be interactive and user-friendly, will guide seafood industry stakeholders into making better decisions on operational and sectoral competitiveness. In particular, it utilizes seven “tools” including success and failure studies, a competitive position analyzer, boom and bust cycle detector, value chain analyser, price predictor, demand predictor and a product success check. The baseline for the development of this toolbox is based on expert scientific research (industrial data, consumer studies, industry data and economic modelling) in conjunction with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Competitiveness Index (FACI). The PrimeDSS is developed in close collaboration with industry reference group (IRG) members from the EU, Canada and Vietnam to ensure its usefulness to private sector decision making.
